I am an award-winning, NYC-based photographer specializing in artistic wedding photojournalism, family portraiture and more. My work has been exhibited throughout the New York metropolitan area and extensively published in national magazines. This blog gives me the opportunity to share some of my more recent photography, tips & tricks of the trade, and a variety of thoughts about the fields in which I work. YOO JIN & SAM GET MARRIED: This couple was married last year in South Korea. Most of these photos were taken at a reception they held last weekend for friends and family members here in the U.S. The photos at top of the post with Yoo Jin and Sam in street clothes were shot earlier in that day — they wanted casual, engagement-style portraits, as well.
VENUE: Ramscale
CATERING AND DESIGN: The Upper Crust (Dan Fehlig)
FLOWERS: Pennington Flowers
A FAMILY LIFESTYLE PORTRAIT: I had the pleasure of photographing this family in early November. I always prefer to use natural light for my portraits. On this particular day, the early winter sun created a magical glow for both the indoor and outdoor images!
NESSA & JONATHAN GET MARRIED: Lovely, intimate wedding held at the couple’s newly renovated townhouse in the East Village.
CATERER + CAKE: Cleaver Co.
CHRISTINE & OLIVER GET MARRIED
CEREMONY: All Saints Episcopal Church
OFFICIANT: Rev. Stephen Yagerman
RECEPTION: Intimate dinner for 20 in the historical wine cellar of the 21 Club
YUKIKO & MATTHEW GET MARRIED: It was a picture-perfect day outside for portraits in Central Park and the ambiance was breathtaking inside. Dan Fehlig of The Upper Crust did a fantastic job adding to what is already a glorious space.
Embracing their multi-culturalism, the couple had a traditional Korean tea ceremony followed by a Western wedding ceremony. My favorite photo of these college sweethearts is the blurry black & white photo of the two of them dancing, featured towards the end of this post.

BOOGIE FEVER! This post is part of a series I started a few weeks back. Here, the folks are really feeling it! I love catching these moments!
KAREN & JENNI GET ENGAGED, CO-WINNER of ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SESSION CONTEST: When Karen and Jenni first contacted me about participating in the contest, I was immediately drawn to their decision to make their lives very public, to use their voices to discuss the discrimination they (we) endure on a personal & policy level. The same-sex union of this multi-ethnic couple will be celebrated over a wedding weekend in September.
Karen is East Indian from the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. She is strongly connected to her culture and religion. Their favorite Hindu holiday, as a family, is Holi or Phagwah as it is called in Trinidad. It’s a celebration of color and symbolizes the welcoming of Spring. As a concept for the Engagement Photo Contest I sponsored in the spring, Karen and Jenni chose to incorporate the Holi tradition complete with Abeer (or Abir) — the bright and beautifully colored powders that you see in the photos. They felt their engagement portrait would not be complete without their son Jadon and dog Max to symbolically portray their family through playfulness, in celebration of color.
HANDS IN THE AIR / JUMP AROUND! There’s no greater opportunity for capturing moments than on the dance floor. Here are some of my favorites!
KELLY & WILL GET MARRIED (Part 2): I first previewed this wedding at the end of May 2012, primarily focusing on the wedding couple and those in the wedding party.
Here, I share a few more shots of the bride and groom, leading with a favorite of mine — a B&W digital infrared portrait of Kelly and Will with the George Washington Bridge in the distant background. Then, I lend my focus to the design details, more moments and other characters that combined for beautiful day.
